Together Kendra and Rene Wenzel have almost 50 years of combined experience with bike racing and coaching. Their racing experience covers American and European road racing, track racing, and mountain bike racing. Together they own and run Wenzel Coaching and have written training articles that have appeared in Bicycle Magazine, VeloNews, and www.bike.com as well as many other cycling publications and Webzines. Kendra, an All-American cyclist at the University of California at Berkeley in 1994, has attained both individual and team cycling championship titles. She was a Pan American champion in 1991 and the U.S. Collegiate Road Racing champion in 1994. Kendra was a U.S. National Team member from 1990 to 1994 and in 1998 and 1999. She was also a world championship team member in 1990, 1997, and 1998. As a rider and a coach, Rene has made his mark in the bike-racing world. He raced to over 300 victories in his 22-year riding career. He coached his riders to over 40 individual and team national championships. Ten United States championships were claimed by the Saturn professional cycling team, which Rene managed and directed. He coached individual cyclists who captured eight world championship medals, including two gold medals. Rene was also a junior-level coach for many great American racers such as George Hincapie, Fred Rodriguez, Kevin Livingston, and Chris Wherry. Kendra and Rene live in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon, with their daughter, Katrine.
