Iranian Contemporary Art

Rose Issa, is an independent curator and advisor on visual arts and films from the Middle East and North Africa Daryush Shayegan is former Professor of Indian Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Tehran, and also former Director of the Iranian Centre for the Study of Civilisations, Tehran Ruyin Pakbaz is well known as a teacher, researcher and painter. From 1970 to 1987 he was on the academic board of Tehran University's Department of Fine Arts, since when he has taught at the University of Arts and Azad University, both in Tehran. In 1964, along with a number of fellow modernists, he founded the Talar-e Iran (Qandriz); from 1964 to 1976 he exhibited abstract works in both solo and group exhibitions. His work is in the collections of the Ben and Abby Grey Foundation and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. He has written a number of publications on the visual arts Carol Brown, co-curator of Iranian Contemporary Art, is Head of Exhibitions at the Barbican Centre.
