Conger Beasley has collaborated with photographer Tim Hauf on two previous photo/text books, Little Trees, Big Sky: Portrait of a Northern Wilderness, and Solo-Khumbu: The Trek to Everest. His book, We Are a People in This World: The Lakota Sioux and the Massacre at Wounded Knee, won the Western Writers of America Spur Award for best contemporary nonfiction in 1995.
