A native of Asheville, George Humphries has lived most of his life amid North Carolina's mountains. He has won critical acclaim for his large-format photography as well as a loyal following. His images have also been featured in North Carolina Wildflowers (Westcliffe 2000), North Carolina Reflections (Westcliffe 1998), Along the Blue Ridge Parkway (Westcliffe 1997), A North Carolina Christmas (Westcliffe 1996), and in Westcliffe's scenic calendars of North Carolina. Humphries, who also publishes two lines of nature photography notecards, was selected as artist affiliate at Brevard College in 1996.
