Melville M. Bigelow, 1846-1921, professor and author, graduated from the University of Michigan in 1866 in both Arts and Law. He was admitted to the Bar in Tennessee, and early began writing on legal subjects. He received a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1879 and became a Professor of Law at Boston University School of Law. There is a Chair named in his honor at the school.
