His second life began when he was prematurely returned from France as an exchange student following a heart breaking love affair. He whirl-winded through college in two & half years accented by a dangerous night in jail & a trying racial experience while working on the campus with a black sewer line crew. After college he was elected to the Alabama Senate where his controversial political battles with governor George Wallace are well documented. Disillusionment with politics brought him into another life as a developer of hotels & apartments.
