Dan Mora is a prospector in the desolate region of the Southwestern desert. After being nursed back to health from a rattlesnake bite by a friendly Tarahumara Indian named Quanto, he receives a warning from him. In the direction Mora is heading, Quanto exclaims, "Apache!" Then, sweeping his arms in an all-encompassing circle, he uttered the second word: !Bandidos! On the trail, Mora passes the invisible Sonoran border and comes upon the ruins of an abandoned mission and graveyard.
