Richard J. Kelly is a professor and departmental head at the School of Literature, Arts and Cultural Studies at Kinki University in Osaka, which is one of Japan's largest universities. He specializes in the study of medieval literatures, in particular the Christian prose and poetry of the Anglo-Saxon period (mid 5th to early 12th century) and is an authority on the early English language.
