John Gardner is a visionary educator, author, speaker, and change agent. He founded the acclaimed National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina. He served as the faculty director of USC's first-year seminar, University 101, from 1974 to 1999. Gardner conducts First-Year Experience seminars and teleconferences throughout the world, supporting college faculty and staff in developing effective first-year seminar courses and retention programs.
