T. A. Barron wrote his first stories as a child under an old ponderosa pine on his family's Colorado ranch. His passion for writing, like his appreciation for nature's patterns and mysteries, never left him. During his years as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, he traveled widely, trekking through places as diverse as east Africa, the Himalayas, rural Japan, Scandinavia, and Uzbekistan-as well as Scotland and Wales, where he grew fascinated by the ancient tales of Merlin. After returning to the United States, he spent several years managing a fast-growing business, but continued to write-and to ponder the legendary wizard who was the mage of Camelot and the mentor of King Arthur. Finally, Barron decided to leave his business and move back to Colorado to write full-time. Now he writes novels, nature books, and picture books in the attic of his Colorado home. He also serves on a variety of environmental and educational boards, including The Wilderness Society, which recently awarded him its highest honor for his conservation work, and Princeton University, where he helped to found a program in environmental studies. His favorite pastime is hiking the mountain trails with his wife, Currie, and their five children.Barron, T. A. is the author of 'Wings of Merlin', published 2002 under ISBN 9780441009886 and ISBN 0441009883.
