Wittman, Mary Ann Johnson and others. A Native Chicagoan, Ms. Coorens moved to Wicker Park in 1976 and experienced the rebirth of the neighborhood as she worked on the renovation of one of its premier structures. Both her maternal family (Norwegians) and her paternal family (Belgians) moved to the West Town area when they immigrated to the U.S., driving her passion for the community. Coorens, a former writer and publisher, is President of a computer infrastructure and systems business. she has served on boards of various community organizations.
