Why Do We Have to Work?

In the early 1980s I was a music major at Queens College, and played miscellaneous piano jobs around New York City: for dance classes, cable television, Off-Off Broadway shows, restaurants and nightclubs, etc. I left New York for two years to play keyboards and harmonica in top-40 road bands that traveled up and down the East Coast, and in the mid-1980s I returned to the city to play in several rock-star-wanna-be bands (and to wait tables). In the late 1980s I got married and started a family, and since the 1990s I've been working an office job and playing piano and guitar for my children's grade school.
