Robert Hutchinson was defence correspondent for the Press Association, Britain's national news agency, in 1976-1983, before moving to Jane's Information Group as one of the team that successfully launched the prestigious magazine Jane's Defence Weekly in 1984. Three years later he became Publishing Director of Jane's Information Group. Since leaving Jane's at the end of 1997, he has written a number of books on defence issues. He broadcasts weekly on three Washington DC radio stations on geopolitical matters as well as continuing to write on defence and security issues for a number of magazine titles. Hutchinson is chairman of the media members of the Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee.
