Warriors of Life

Jeffrey Winter is a 41-year-old journalist, photographer and author. He recently received a kidney/pancreas transplant after 36 years of diabetes and stays active in volunteer work with the transplant community. He lives in the small northern Wisconsin community of Summit Lake. Having been employed in social work, religious volunteer endeavors, and "a million-and-one other jobs in between," as he terms it, Mr. Winter continued his interest in spirituality by living at Orthodox monasteries in Wisconsin and Florida. "The search for a true spirituality lies hidden in all of his and its pursuit is essential to a full life," he says, "We cannot expect to find the fulfillment of which God speaks until we endeavor to make its pursuit our top priority.
