Warren Harding was the publisher of a newspaper in Marion, Ohio, whose good looks and pleasing speaking voice made him a political star. In 1916, he gave the keynote address at the Republican convention and was elected to the U.S. Senate. In 1920, he was elected president by a landslide on the slogan "return to normalcy." The job overwhelmed Harding, however. He offered little leadership, and his administration was accused of corruption. In August 1923, during a tour of the West, Harding became ill and died. Several of his close advisers were later convicted for selling government favors. Book jacket.Kent, Deborah is the author of 'Warren G.
