Thomas E. Chavez is a native New Mexican born in Las Vegas who received his Ph.D. in history from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Chavez has taught classes for various universities and colleges. He was the Director of New Mexico's state history museum, the Palace of the Governors, for twenty-one years. He currently holds the position of Executive Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico Fray Angelico Chavez has been considered New Mexico's most renowned Hispanic literary figure. Born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico, the eldest of ten children, Fray Angelico was ordained at St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe in 1937.
