Alicia Partnoy is a poet, translator, and human rights activist. She was born in Argentina in 1955 and is one of the few survivors from secret detention camps in which about 30,000 Argentineans were ‘disappeared’. She is the author of The Little School: Tales of Disappearance and Survival in Argentina (1999); You Can’t Drown the Fire: Latin American Women Writing in Exile (1988); and Revenge of the Apple-Venganza de la Manzana: Poetry (1992), and other essays in several anthologies.
