UK Banking System and Its Regulatory and Supervisory Framework

Carlo Gola works in the Specialized Intermediaries Supervision Department of the Bank of Italy. He received a degree in Economics from the University of Modena, Italy, and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Oxford, UK. He has worked at Centro Studi Economicie Finanziari (IPSOA), at the Istituto per la Ricerca Sociale (IRS) and in research projects financed by the Consiglio Nazionale per le Ricerche (CNR). He has been appointed as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He is author of several articles and working papers in applied economics and banking. Alessandro Roselli has spent his whole career at the central Bank of Italy, latterly as chief representative for the United Kingdom. He gained a degree in Law, from Rome University, Italy. He was awarded a CNR postgraduate scholarship in public finance from Rome University. He was A. C. Jemolo Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford; UK, from January to March 2008 and is currently Visiting Fellow at Cass Business School, London, UK.
