DENNIS COLLINS has to sample everything, loving thrills and adventure. The author played sports like football and baseball and the tender age of eighteen even tried his hand at prizefighting. Then came the need for speed. Summertime saw Mr. Collins racing automotive powered hydroplanes, and the winter was spent racing motorcycles on the ice. The in between seasons, he jumped out of airplanes. Educated at University of Detroit, his mainstream career was in the auto industry where he spent thirty-three years in engineering. He recalls being in his twenties when a Hemingway short story started him thinking about writing. Retirement offered the opportunity to finally realize the dream of becoming a novelist. His first novel, The Unreal McCoy, has received outstanding reviews and was a finalist in the ¿reader¿s choice¿ awards at the, ¿Love is Murder¿, writer¿s conference in Chicago in February, 2002.
