In October 1863, Reverend Robert J. Dundas of Scotland purchased eighty ceremonial objects that missionary William Duncan had acquired from Tsimshian Indians living along the coast of British Columbia. The collection included carved clubs, masks, rattles, bowls, and headdresses.
