Born in Dulwich, a suburb of London, England in 1970, Mervyn Richard Seivwright's, child hood started in Ipswich, Suffolk. He is the product of 2 Jamaican families that moved to England in the sixties. His early writing stated at the age of 14. At this point in his life he had already lived in Des Moines Iowa, Syracuse New York & was in Miami Florida. He never really had a stable foundation, thus putting his trust & feelings on paper. Due to traveling so much it opened his eyes to many situations, and environments that gave him the vision he has today. After high school, Mervyn attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. There his work transposed & first became published giving the opportunity for his first stage reading, a positive impact to continue his writing.This book, "Trials of a Stranger", is a door way to the many sides of Mervyn R. Seivwright. The title depicts the trials of his life. Describing life through the eyes of which he saw them. There are various styles of poetry shown in this book such as the cinquane called "The Jews", to the sonnet "Second Creepy Halloween Night".
