Bruce Rutherford was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there until age eight when his parents moved to the western suburb, Downers Grove. This has been his hometown ever since. He attended De Pauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and North Central College in Naperville, Illinois where he graduated. A two-year stint in the U.S Army was sandwiched in between.
