Born in Dorset but educated in Hampshire, Peter Stoneley first trained as a map maker before joining the Royal Engineers for his two years National Service which he finished in Kenya, during the Mau Mau uprising. After retraining as a quantity surveyor in the building industry, he spent the remainder of what he calls his 'œworking life' gadding about various building and maintenance sites across the south of England. Some called him the trouble-shooter, others the troublemaker. Where there was trouble, there was Peter Stoneley.
