Born in Dorset but educated in Hampshire, Peter Stoneley first trained as a map maker before joining the Royal Engineers for his two years National Service which he finished in Kenya, during the Mau Mau uprising. After retraining as a quantity surveyor in the building industry, he spent the remainder of what he calls his 'œworking life' gadding about various building and maintenance sites across the south of England. Some called him the trouble-shooter, others the troublemaker. Where there was trouble, there was Peter Stoneley.
