Diane Silvey is a member of the Sechelt Band (Coast Salish). She graduated from the University of British Columbia's Native Indian Teacher Education Program and taught in band and public schools in British Columbia for twenty-three years. She is the author of two picture books, two novels (Spirit Questand Raven's Flight), and the non-fiction book, The Kids Book of Aboriginal Peoples in Canada.Her textbook, From Time Immemorial, won the B.C.
