Til Then--: They Are Love Letters

Catherine Cain Pickle was born in 1925 in Attala County, Mississippi. She earned a B.S. and M.A. in history from the University of Memphis and a Ph.D. in curriculum from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. She retired from the Memphis City Schools after 25 years in education, beginning as a classroom teacher and moving into administration as supervisor, curriculum developer and director of secondary programs. She has preserved her husband's 300+ WWII letters in the historical framework of that war. Her goal was to honor his memory and show the impact of total world war on the average citizen-soldier and his family in the United States.
