Alan Gerson has written poetry his entire adult life. By profession he is an artist and has shown internationally. He has a BA in philosophy and a Masters of Fine Arts; and for some unknown reason—and when he was old enough to know better—went to law school and received a JD. He practiced for three years before wising up and going back to being a full-time artist. At various times in his life he has been the director of Visual Arts at the Louisiana Contemporary Arts Center, a labor lawyer, an art teacher and a printmaker. He is the author of Habeas Circus from NewSouth Books, a collection of Gerson’s legal satire paintings.
