The Taliban and Beyond: A Close Look at the Afghan Nightmare

A 1962 graduate of Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Pakistan, S. Amjad Hussain is a clinical professor of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Medical College of Ohio and a columnist on the op-ed page of the daily Toledo Blade. He is one of a handful of Westerners allowed to travel to Afghanistan in recent years and to talk with leaders of the Taliban. A native of Pakistan, Hussain has lived in Toledo, Ohio, since 1974 and is past president of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo. He has written on a variety of subjects including history, religion culture and the exploration of the Indus RiverS.
