Anna Seghers was born in Mainz, Germany in 1900. She won the Kleist Prize in 1928 for The Revolt of The Fishermen of Santa Barbara, and gained international fame with The Seventh Cross (1942) and Transit (1944). A leading anti-Fascist author, Seghers wrote her most significant works while exiled in France and Mexico. After World War II she returned to East Germany, where she died in 1983Anna Seghers is the author of 'The Seventh Cross (Voices of Resistance)', published 1987 under ISBN 9780853457121 and ISBN 0853457123.
