Edwin Sandys (1516 Ð 1588) was one of the translators of the Bishops' Bible. A supporter of Lady Jane Grey, he was imprisoned in the Tower in July 1553 but eventually escaped to the Continent. On Elizabeth I's accession he returned and was appointed subsequently to the sees of Worcester, London, and York.Sandys, Edwin is the author of 'The Sermons of Edwin Sandys, D.D., Successively Bishop of Worcester and London, and Archbishop of York: To Which Are Added Some Miscellaneous Pieces B', published 2007 under ISBN 9781556350467 and ISBN 1556350465.
