The Ploy of Cooking

After hitch-hiking to California for a summer course that might lead to a scholarship, small town boy Trim Walker arrives short on money. Given the opportunity to work in the dorm kitchen, Trim meets Tom, an old black chef, who tells the young man that "the right man can play a stove like an electric guitar." The screen-writing seminar turns out to be only Trim and two young women. Next the eccentric professors, two neurotic Hollywood types, change everything by ordering the threesome to collaborate on a fresh John F. Kennedy assassination script. Unlike the girls, Trim could care less about the changes, but getting enough sleep and doing the work leaves little time for romance. And both his sexy partners, the streetwise Lany Nyla and the wholesome Sandy Day, have him curious. Unclear how any one of them will get ahead if they work together, they proceed as instructed anyway only to discover an unsettling possibility: If JFK had the President of Vietnam murdered, might Madame Nhu and her daughter have shot JFK?
