Marc Frattasio grew up in Hyde Park and Hanover, Massachusetts. Occasional Sunday morning trips to the Readville freight yards with his family during the late 1960s sparked an enduring interest in the New Haven Railroad. An active member of the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Information Association since the late 1970s, Marc’s writing has been featured several times in the group’s Shoreliner” magazine. He is a collector of New Haven Railroad artifacts with particular interests in advertising, dining car department material, signage, and anything that features Herbert Matter’s NH logo. Many items from Marc’s collection have been featured in books written on the New Haven Railroad over the years by other authors. After graduating from Hanover High School, Marc enlisted in the United States Navy where he earned his aircrew wings and accumulated several thousand hours as an electronic warfare systems operator flying on board Lockheed P3B and P3C Orion” maritime patrol aircraft. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended Bridgewater State College where he earned a bachelor's degree in management science and then Boston University where he earned a master's degree in computer information systems. Marc currently manages the new technology research team in the information systems organization of a Fortune 500 company. Marc lives on Boston’s south shore” with his wife Faith and their five cats. He is a private pilot and loves aviation as much as railroading. On clear weekends with favorable winds he and Faith often fly out of Plymouth Municipal Airport on day trips to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, or Nantucket.
