The Christian in Complete Armour (2 Volumes)

This is a reprint of the 1864 edition of William Gurnall's greatexposition of the whole armour of God, as described in Ephesians chapter six, with an introduction by J. C. Ryle. Also available is a modernized abridgement of Gurnall's work in three paperback volumes. Gurnall was a graduate of Emmanuel College, Cambridge & minister of Lavenham, West Suffolk, for thirty-five years. Unlike many of his Puritan contemporaries, Gurnall remained in the Church of England in 1662. Little is known of Gurnall's life & work. Ryle outlines the known facts in his biographical introduction. The Christian in Complete Armour is one of the greatest of all the practical writings of the Puritan era. The original title page gives an indication of the contents & conveys the flavour of the work. In part, it reads: A treatise of the saints war against the devil, wherein a discovery is made of that grand enemy of God & his people . . .
