The Carolina Curriculum for Preschoolers with Special Needs

The Carolina Curriculum components include alt- alt- The Carolina Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers with Special Needs (Ccitsn), Second Edition. Ccitsn includes 26 logical teaching sequences for children from birth to 2 years, covering five developmental domains (see sidebar). For each curricular item, there's a chapter that explains the objective of the item, lists skills and behaviors associated with it, shows professionals ways to encourage those skills within the child's daily routine, and includes sensorimotor adaptations. alt- The Carolina Curriculum for Preschoolers with Special Needs (Ccpsn). Ccpsn includes 25 logical teaching sequences for children 2 to 5 years of age, covering the five developmental domains addressed in Ccitsn. Curricular items expand on those in the previous volume, so professionals can target more advanced, age-appropriate behaviors. Chapters for each item include everything covered in the Ccitsn chapters, plus suggestions for group activities appropriate for preschools or child care centers. alt- Assessment Log. These forms help professionals collect data about a child's performance on hundreds of discrete skills within the developmental sequences, leaving space to conduct a full assessment on four separate dates to monitor progress. alt- Developmental Progress Charts. These charts help professionals summarize what they learned from the Assessment Log. Every item on the Assessment Log is represented by a blank on the Developmental Progress Chart that professionals fill in completely, partially, or not at all, depending on the level of skill the child displays.
