Born in Austria in 1930, Dr. Gideon Y. Sorokin escaped with his family to Palestine after the Anschluss in 1938. He received his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Pisa in Italy. A veterinarian for 35 years, he was later ordained a rabbi. A popular lecturer, he has covered topics from veterinary medicine to global terrorism and the Middle East. As a producer, he is currently involved in a musical, "Gideon's Dream," based on his family's escape from Vienna. He and his wife share four adult children and eight grandchildren. They live in Tiburon, California.
