Clarissa Dickson Wright practised as a barrister before pursuing her talent as a cook and food writer. From a charter yacht in the Caribbean to her catering company, Clarissa has produced inspired, no-nonsense food to great acclaim. Her obsession with cookery books led her to open the Cooks Bookshop in Edinburgh and to compile her anthology Food, and in 1999 she was inaugurated as the Rector of Aberdeen University. She was half of the Two Fat Ladies duo with Jennifer Paterson and the author, with her, of the books. Most recently, she has presented two series of Clarissa and the Countryman for the BBC with her old friend Johnny Scott Sir John Scott, Bt, (Johnny to his friends) has been a hill sheep farmer for over twenty-five years. A former brake man for the British bob-sleigh team, he studied farming in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand before returning to farm black-faced sheep on the Lammermuirs in Berwickshire. A lifetime devotee of the countryside and its sports, Johnny is an excellent horseman, a keen shot and passionate supporter of country issues.
