Dr. Allan Edward Barsky has a background in law, social work, mediation, and addictions counseling. He has taught at a university level since 1989 in four different schools of social work (University of Toronto; Ryerson University; University of Calgary; and Florida Atlantic University, where he is presently Full Professor). Dr. Barsky's books include CONFLICT RESOLUTION FOR THE HELPING PROFESSIONS (Brooks/Cole, 2000), COUNSELLORS AS WITNESSES (1997, Canada Law Book), INTERDISCIPLINARY PRACTICE WITH DIVERSE POPULATIONS (Greenwood, 2000), CLINICIANS IN COURT (Guilford, 2002), and ALCOHOL, OTHER DRUGS AND ADDICTIONS: A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MANUAL FOR SOCIAL WORK AND THE HUMAN SERVICES (Brooks/Cole, 2005). Dr. Barsky has studied Educational Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and Teaching Effectiveness at Ryerson.
