SUMMARY

Christopher Kendris has worked as interpreter and translator for the U.S. State Department at the American Embassy in Paris. Dr. Kendris earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees at Columbia University in the City of New York, where he held a New York State Scholarship, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at North-western University in Evanston, Illinois. He also earned two diplomas with Mention tres Honorable at the Universite de Paris (en Sorbonne), Faculte des Lettres, Ecole Superieure de Preparation et de Perfectionnement des Professeurs de Francais a I'Etranger, and at the Institut de Phonetique, Paris. In 1986, he was one of ninety-five teachers in the U.S. who was awarded a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship for Teachers of Foreign Languages in American High Schools. His fellowship provided for summer studies in Europe in creative ways to teach Spanish and French. Dr. Kendris has taught French at the College of The University of Chicago as visiting summer lecturer and at North-western University, where he held a Teaching Assistantship and Tutorial Fellowship for four years. He has also taught at Colby College, Duke University, Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, and the State University of New York at Albany. He was Chairman of the Foreign Languages Department at Farmingdale High School, Farmingdale, New York, where he was also a teacher of French and Spanish. He is the author of numerous school and college books, workbooks, and other language guides. Among his most popular works are How to Prepare for SAT II: French, How to Prepare for SAT II: Spanish (both books with audiocassettes for listening comprehension test practice with answers), French Now! Level One, Spanish Now! Level Two, Write It in French, Write It in Spanish (both composition workbooks with answers), Master the Basics: French, Master the Basics: Spanish, Pronounce It Perfectly in French (with two audiocassettes of listening comprehension including tests with answers), and many others, all published by Barron's Educational Series, Inc.
