SUMMARY

A teenage boy is sent to live with a priest in the depths of the Sarladais. Soon the adolescent meets a young boy. The priest knows of their involvement and guides his pupil to seek out his own soul in strange, almost supernatural rituals. This tense, shadowy tale, burning with love, is a eulogy in praise of difference, an act of worship to beauty in nature. Francois Augieras was born in 1925, in Rochester, New York and subsequently lived in Paris and the Dordogne. He is the author of The Old Man and the Child, which Andre Gide pronounced a "bizarre delight" and Journey to Mount Athos. He died in 1971. Sue Dyson's many translations include the Egyptian novels of Christian Jacq.Augieras, Francois is the author of 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' with ISBN 9781901285444 and ISBN 1901285448.
