Sonata I (Music Scores)

This Urtext edition of Haydn's keyboard sonatas has been prepared directly from the earliest contemporary sources, namely the autograph and or first edition as well as manuscript copies. The sources are used for particular works or sets of pieces are given in the notes. The chronological order for the works in Volume I could not be reliably established; therefore, this edition attempts to follow the groupings found in the manuscript collections that were apparently the most widespread in Haydn's lifetime. This edition also preserves the original genre names.
