Eliot Smith earned his B.A. and Ph.D. at Harvard University. He is now Professor of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. He has chaired the Social and Group Processes research review committee of the United States National Institute of Mental Health, and served as associate editor of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and as a member of the editorial boards of several major social psychology journals. Diane M. Mackie is Professor of Psychology and Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Mackie received her BA and MA at the University of Auckland.
