Siege A Novel of the Eastern Front 1942

Russ Schneider studied the Russo-German War for years before writing his books, even teaching himself German to broaden his research. He published two collections of short stories, Madness Without End: Tales of Horror from the Russian Wilderness, 1941-1945 and Demyansk: More Tales from the Russian Wilderness, 1941-1945. His work of nonfiction, Gotterdammerung 1945: Germany's Last Stand in the East, was a Military Book Club main selection in 1998.
