The author was born in the mid-1950s in Berkeley, California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the Sixties. She obtained degrees at two four-year institutions in her original fields (music and aesthetics), and has taught various aspects of those subjects all her life. Over the years, she lived overseas (witnessing war first-hand), worked with social, medical, physical and natural scientists in many areas of inquiry, and did a two-year stint in farm life--in addition to the music she has always pursued.
