Anna Seghers was born in Mainz, Germany in 1900. She won the Kleist Prize in 1928 for The Revolt of The Fishermen of Santa Barbara, and gained international fame with The Seventh Cross (1942) and Transit (1944). A leading anti-Fascist author, Seghers wrote her most significant works while exiled in France and Mexico. After World War II she returned to East Germany, where she died in 1983Seghers, Anna is the author of 'Seventh Cross', published 2004 under ISBN 9781567922530 and ISBN 1567922538.
