Eugene Clark served in the Navy during World War II, and after the war, among other assignments, was attached to General Douglas MacArthur's G-2 (intelligence) staff in Tokyo. He was there when the Korean War began, and was approached for the Inchon mission. For his role in the invasion, he won the Silver Star, and the Far Eastern Command added the Legion of Merit for "exceptionally meritorious conduct." Later missions resulted in an Oak Leaf Cluster and the Navy Cross.
