Charlotta was born in the USA in 1967 the second of three daughters. Her father is a German engineer & inventor & her mother is half German/Swedish. She grew up in Iran from 1973-1979, before fleeing to Germany. After finishing high school in 1986, she studied at the University of Arts in Berlin from 1986 - 1989, where she was also a street musician. From 1989- 1995 she went to model in New York, Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, Milan, Sydney & London, and after becoming disinchanted with modelling she started to get back into painting & sketching. She also put on Art shows sporadically until 1995, before settling down in NY. To pay for her art shows, she painted murals for private houses & restaurants.Charlotta started designing bars, restaurants and clubs until she opened her own restaurant in Brooklyn, not realizing that she now had really seriously gotten sidetracked. It was a good lesson in not taking herself too seriously and understanding the need to be decisive and as much as it was sidetracking it really also helped her out of many chaotic choices. In September 2001 she became a published author, she designed, wrote and illustrated a children's book that despite the sad events of the time made it into the top 10 of a bestsellers lists. It is called 'the secret of three butterpillars".Charlotta now lives and works above one of her own two restaurants in Brooklyn, the funky part of town and "for anyone with an inkling of humanity the only place to be".Janssen, Charlotta is the author of 'Secret of Three Butterpillars A Never-Ending Tale' with ISBN 9780761121138 and ISBN 0761121137.
