As a writer, Pronzini is a Renaissance man of genre fiction. He has written over three hundred short stories in the mystery, horror, science fiction and western fields. "Nameless," a San Francisco-based private investigator, is Pronzini's best-known creation. The middle-aged former police officer first appeared in The Snatch (1971). Since then, Nameless has aged slowly (but gracefully) as a compassionate champion for his clients in over twenty well-written novels and short story collections.
