Rosetta, Rosetta, Sit by Me!

Linda Walvoord wrote a number of children's books before resuming doctoral work at the University of Chicago, where she completed a PhD in English Literature. Her dissertation was on Frederick Douglass's writings. Currently Ms. Walvoord teaches writing and literature at Clermont College in Batavia, Ohio. She The mother of one grown son, she lives in Batavia, Ohio Eric Velasquez won the Coretta Scott King New Talent Award for his illustrations in The Piano Man. Mr. Velasquez also illustrated Liberty Street, by Candice F. Ransom, and wrote and illustrated Grandma's Records, about his experiences growing up in Harlem.
