With the exception of one Militia Muster Roll - that of Capt. Reuben Vaughnm, 1779 - all the muster rolls and other records of the Militia of Mecklenburg County for this period have been lost. This volume contains abstracts of all military and patriotic services by Mecklenburg County residents which can now be satisfactorily or completely documented. These records include the Committee of Safety, names of gentlemen justices who served during the period, the names of all militia officers appearing on the order books, the muster roll and commission of Capt. Vaughan, notes from pension applications, notes from the order books of the county pertaining to the Revolutionary War and other notes and records.
