This catalog of the Museum's 1992 exhibition (April 25 - October 18) features 100 "easel quality" reverse paintings dating from the 16th to 19th centuries. The fact that reverse paintings were done on glass makes them most interesting. The decoration was meant to be viewed from the opposite side, through the glass, & the paints typically have a "wet" look, as if they had just been applied.
