Curt Smith is an acclaimed author, award-winning radio/television commentator, and former presidential speechwriter. He has written ten books, including Voices of the Game, the history of baseball broadcasting; Storied Stadiums: Baseball's History through Its Ballparks; and What Baseball Means to Me. Smith hosts Rochester, New York, CBS-TV affiliate WROC's "Talking Point" and CBS Radio WHAM's "The Curt Smith Show." His daily radio commentary has been voted best in New York State by Associated Press and the New York State Broadcasters Association. Smith is also a columnist for upstate's Messenger-Post newspapers and senior lecturer in English at the University of Rochester. Before entering radio and television, he wrote more 1989-93 speeches than anyone for President George Bush. Since leaving the Bush administration, Smith has hosted multimedia series at the Smithsonian Institution; written and coproduced three ESPN-TV documentaries based on his book Voices of the Game; and worked on ESPN's award-winning "SportsCentury" series. Smith has written for the Boston Globe, the New York Times, Newsweek, and the Washington Post.
